Moscow Weather Back to Normal After Fires, Heatwave – NYTimes.com

After weeks of gagging on noxious fumes from surrounding wildfires and melting under 100-degree temperatures, not to mention fretting over radioactive smoke, Muscovites are finally in the clear.

A day after breaking the record daily high for the 22nd time this summer, temperatures here on Thursday dropped to a more customary 70 degrees, with an almost giddy Russian news media reporting that the next few days would bring still cooler weather.
